About me
My career traverses journalism, design, content production, technology, law, public policy and education. I’ve reported on institutions, taught journalism, designed digital experiences, made films and worked for some of Australia’s most prominent enterprises.
More recently, my focus has been on building sovereign AI systems that are transparent and trustworthy.
The golden thread is a fascination with systems and how they affect people.
Sometimes those systems are obvious: laws, policies, institutions, technologies.
Sometimes they are less visible: an interface, a workflow, a piece of content, a set of incentives, a decision made deep inside an organisation.
Journalism taught me to interrogate systems before trying to improve them.
Filmmaking provided me a way to explore complex political and institutional themes through story, sound and visual design.
Design gave me the frameworks needed to build systems and experiences that meet human needs.
Law taught me about principles, governance and reasoning.
Policy showed me how research and reasoning becomes law.
Teaching introduced me to the joy of helping others better themselves.
Technology keeps surprising me with new opportunities to pursue my interests and apply my capabilities.
I’m interested in work that sits between disciplines — where technology, institutions, information and human experience meet.
